Philip

Alexander

Alexander was actually born on July 22, 356 B.C. His mother was Olympia of Epiros and was considered a direct descendent of Achilles.

He had a quick mind and temperament, but the heart of a lion. He had rich blond hair, deep blue eyes, and pale skin with a strong inclination to poetry, music, and art. He became famous early when he surprised his father when at age 12 he tamed the wild horse Buccefalus.

He was educated by Leonidas from Epiros and Aristotle when Aristotle was 40 years old and Alexander was 12. Central themes of Aristotle's teaching were Freedom and Philanthropy.
