Workshops in the Clergy Laity Congress
Procedures for the Preservation of Parish History

36th Biennial Clergy Laity Congress
Los Angeles, July 1 - July 2, 2002

Be our guest in the workshops about Procedures for the Preservation of Parish History.

These workshops will be held at the following dates and times in the Exhibit Hall of the Bonaventura Hotel, 4045 Figueroa, Los Angeles, California, as part of the 36th Biennial Clergy Laity Congress of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America:

Included among the 36th Biennial Clergy Laity Congress workshops, these are part of an on-going series of symposia for the Preservation of Our History, Past, Present, and Future.

The methodical documentation and preservation of our community history in this country is long overdue. We are losing untold volumes of written and material resources on a daily basis. While other ethnic groups are trying to discover their roots, our own rich heritage is being diminished and even distorted. To ignore the loss of these resources is to rob future generations of their due legacy.

We will address these issues, among others:

Take this opportunity to discuss the importance and necessity of cultural preservation. Take this opportunity to learn how to identify, collect, organize, and preserve historical records, and to conduct oral history interviews.

For direct information, send us a message from the PAHH contact page.

Also see the San Francisco Diocese Resolution, sent as a proposal to the Archdiocese, for the preservation of community histories.
