Where does the money come from?

Purpose

What is it for?

  • To help with research projects or graduate studies related to Hellenic American (Greek American) history and/or culture.

Eligibility

Who is eligible for the grant?

Here is a description of each of these categories:

  • Professional Researchers and Fellows:

    • Researchers as well as fellows in any bona fide institution of research may apply.
    &
  • Graduate Students:

    • Students at graduate level in an accredited, degree-granting institution of higher learning may apply.

Principals

  • Honor:

    • In honor of Mary Kumarelas Mousalimas, founder of the AHS.
  • Coordinator:

Application Procedure

  • Deadline:

    • December 1st of each year.
    • The award will be announced at the AHS Annual Hellenic Run of the following year.
    • Awarded for the first time at our Run of 2012.
  • Do this:

    • Send:
      1. Your Name
      2. Your Email Address
      3. Your Phone Number
      4. Your Institution
      5. Your Position or Status
      6. One Academic Reference:
        • Reference's Name
        • Reference's Position
        • Reference's Email address
      7. Statement of how the money would be used:
        • Length: 325 words - maximum 750 words
        • File type, if you are going to attach it as file: .docx, .doc, .rft, or .txt
    • To:

      AHS Research Grant by email.

Contingency

  • If, in the Grant Committee's opinion, the grant expectations are not met by the applicants during the current year, then the money will be withheld and may be used the next year.
